Cord Martinez has been with Abernethy Center since 2013. As the Operations Manager he loves that he is always invited to the party! Cord has over 20 years in the Hospitality and Food Service Industry. He most recently spent 9 years at Vibrant Table as an Operations Manager. He has also worked as a General Manager of the Greek Cusina, Director of Sales & Catering for Holiday Inn Hotels, and he once owned his own pizza and pasta shoppe. In his spare time Cord loves to do crafty projects and enjoys gardening, cooking, and baking.
Henry has been with Abernethy Center since 2008. He began his career with us as a server and bartender and was later promoted to be our bar manager. His creativity and thoughtfulness have helped to develop a successful bar program and menu. He loves the positive atmosphere that can be felt at events and truly enjoys the opportunities he has to visit with event guests while bartending. Henry is currently attending Portland State University, seeking a degree in Philosophy with a minor in Psychology. In his free time, Henry enjoys tinkering with his car, rock climbing, and competing in races such as Warrior Dash.
Elizabeth has been with Abernethy Center since 2003. During her tenure, she has truly enjoyed watching Abernethy Center grow into the venue it is today. As a Senior Event Specialist she treasures having a job that allows her to be a part of one of the most special days in someone's life. Elizabeth attended Whitman College and later transferred to Portland State University, where she graduated with a double major in marketing and information systems. While attending Portland State, Elizabeth was the coordinator of the university's Outdoor Program where she helped lead groups of students on outdoor adventure trips. In her free time, Elizabeth loves to travel. A few of her fondest travel memories include two trips to Japan and a vacation to China just before the Beijing Olympics. She once traveled to Hawaii with just a backpack and ended up living on the Big Island for six months! Elizabeth also enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking, white water rafting, playing with her dog Luna, golfing, barbecuing, and shooting pool. She is quite the opponent as she previously played on a pool team that made it to Nationals!
Laura has been working in the event industry since 2007; and after she planned her own wedding in 2009, she has been enamored with weddings. She feels privileged to be a part of planning the celebration that joins two people for the beginning of their lifelong journey together. Laura grew up in Sacramento, California; and graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 2008. She has a love for traveling and her travels include living in Hawaii as a surf instructor, eating sushi in Tokyo, glacier walking in Alaska, kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland and watching the sunrise from the top of Machu Picchu, Peru. She has settled down in Portland where she now resides with her husband and their dogs, Fred and Samson.
Amy began working in the event industry in 2004. She used her years of experience to plan her own dream wedding and joined the Abernethy Center team in 2013. She loves having the opportunity to work so closely with brides and grooms, ensuring their day is memorable and runs as effortlessly as possible. She finds her role as a Ceremony Specialist to be gratifying and rewarding. Amy attended Portland State University and holds a bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal Justice. In her free time she loves gardening, cooking, spending time with her busy family, and all things outdoor.
Amy has been with Abernethy Center since 2012. She enjoys seeing the creativity that goes into every wedding - each one is very different, but all are beautiful and magical. During the school year Amy works at a local elementary school as a Title I Reading Assistant. She has been helping kids learn to read for ten years and loves seeing them progress with their reading skills. She has 4 children; 2 whom are young adults and 2 teenagers. She recently planned and executed her daughter's wedding and loved every minute of it. Amy's other hobbies include gardening, designing and making wedding cakes, building things for her backyard out of re-purposed materials, hosting high tea for her friends, watching her son's soccer games and also refereeing youth soccer games. She loves spending time with her kids and she even gets to work with a couple of them at Abernethy!
Ashley has been with Abernethy Center since 2011 and she truly loves working with couples on their big day! She enjoys seeing the excitement in the eyes of her clients as the wedding day unfolds. Along with being a Ceremony Specialist here at Abernethy, she also performs a few other titles including Office Assistant and Payroll Processing. Ashley is a graduate of Portland State University with a double major in Marketing and Communications. She brings her attention to detail and positive attitude to all she is involved with, including volunteer work with Molalla Youth Sports and Winners on Wheels. Ashley enjoys camping, traveling, spending time with loved ones, and shopping.
Christina has been with Abernethy Center since 2009. She is a true people person and loves hearing the stories that surround how the bride and groom made it to their special day. She enjoys getting to know the bridal party and working to make sure the ceremony is a success. Along with being a Ceremony Specialist she is an assistant to the Operations Manager and the Social Media Moderator. Christina graduated from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications. In addition to the numerous roles she has held at Abernethy Center, Christina is also an anchor and board operator for FM News 101 KXL. You can hear her on the weekends reporting the news, weather, and traffic.
Escarlett has been with Abernethy Center since 2012. She appreciates that each workday and wedding is a new, unique journey. Along with being a Ceremony Specialist she is also an office assistant. Escarlett is currently attending Western Oregon University where she is pursuing a degree in psychology and gerontology. Her goal is to get her doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy. In her free time she enjoys running, reading, playing with her dog, and camping with her friends and family.
Jill has been with Abernethy Center since 2010. She finds it magical to be involved with people as they celebrate one of the happiest and most memorable days of their lives. While she enjoys many moments of a wedding day, she truly appreciates witnessing the huge open arms and circle of support that wraps itself around the loving couple as they say, "I do." Jill has over 9 years of event experience and has worked for a variety of venues including Ainsworth House & Gardens, Oregon Historical Society and the Museum of Oregon Territory. Her educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Oregon and an Oregon teaching license from Oregon State University. She enjoys spending time with her family camping, fishing at the lake, running with her kids and baking.
Kylee has been with Abernethy Center since 2012. She began her tenure at Abernethy working as a server, but her passion for working directly with couples led her to become a ceremony specialist. She enjoys how exciting and joyful each wedding is. Kylee is currently a student at Oregon State University. In her free time she enjoys snowboarding.
Mekeala has been with Abernethy Center since 2014. She likes how working in the wedding world gives her the opportunity to meet new people and create a day they will never forget. Mekeala has previously worked for Nordstroms. Helping others and
allowing them to have a good and positive experience is always her number one priority. She is attending Portland State University, studying psychology and criminology. She hopes to one day become a victims advocate.She enjoys traveling, playing sports, and being in the outdoors.
Melinda has been with Abernethy Center since 2014. She has planned and coordinated weddings for friends and family for several years and decided she wanted to join a team like Abernethy, a venue shes admired for a long time. Melinda loves to see all the fun and excitement that comes on such a special day in a couples life. When shes not working at Abernethy Center she works as a counselor for couples and individuals. For fun Melinda enjoys running, playing music, and hanging with her dog and husband.
Heide has been with Abernethy Center since 2013. She believes that to be of service to another is a rare and special gift to give. Having the opportunity to work with a team of people that share in the common goal of providing the best possible service to our clients is an honor. Heide has worked in sales, marketing, and event management for the majority of her career. Recently she worked with Habitat for Humanity to raise home building funds for well deserving families. Heide and her husband live on a small farm in Aurora and have two sons. They enjoy working in the garden, filbert orchard, and in the yard, as well as hiking, biking, and visiting the coast.
Inez has been with Abernethy Center since 2013 and holds the position of Event Manager. She loves the uniqueness of each event, from a bride with five dress changes, to the Oregon State mascot giving the bride away. Inez holds a bachelor's of science degree from the University of Montana where her focus was on small business management and Spanish language. Her extensive work experience has helped to build her excellent customer service skills. In her free time, Inez enjoys gardening, home improvements, and testing new recipes.
Trevor Del Guidice
Trevor has been with Abernethy Center since 2010. His current positions include Bar Manager and Event Manager. He enjoys interacting with couples and their loved ones on a day that will inspire and change their lives for a long time to come. Trevor holds an associates of art degree and has a background in architectural studies, interior design, graphic design, and product design. His hobbies include drawing, painting, and pottery. Health and well-being are an important part of his life, so he loves finding time to cycle around the Portland Metro area.
